We believe we can build more together, so we offer our members services to support many aspects of business ownership including:
- Small business loans: We offer loans between $5K-$250K with interest rates as low as 9.99% and repayment terms of up to 36 months.
- Business advising and education: Accion Opportunity Fund’s business advising and education services include business coaching, free mentoring, webinars, events, personalized learning, and a comprehensive business resource library that includes articles, tools, and webinar recordings.
- New Markets Tax Credit Program: We support community service-focused projects through our New Markets Tax Credit program. Through this program, you could earn tax credits for your community development entity.
-
Advocacy: Our goal is to help build an inclusive world for all small businesses. We want all entrepreneurs to have the opportunity to make their dreams come true, and all communities to have the chance to become economically vibrant. To that end, some of our advocacy work includes:
- Truth in Lending: While individual consumers are protected by the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), small businesses are not. That leaves them vulnerable to misleading or irresponsible lending practices. AOF is a founding member of the Responsible Business Lending Coalition (RBLC), a unique cross-sector coalition of nonprofit and private-sector fintech lenders and advocacy organizations.
- Small Business Borrowers Bill of Rights: The Small Business Borrower’s Bill of Rights (BBoR) is the first cross-sector consensus on the responsible lending practices that all small businesses deserve. Accion Opportunity fund helped draft the BBoR in 2015 and still stands by it today.
- Expand Credit Enhancement Programs: State-run Capital Access Programs (CAPs) make it possible to fund entrepreneurs that are generally considered “too risky.” We support expanding these programs to create a healthy business ecosystem.
